Lazoğlu is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Koç University and Director of Manufacturing and Automation Research Center He holds a PhD and a MS from Georgia Institute of Technology, (1997) and BS degrees (1989) from Istanbul Technical University with high honor. Prof. Lazoğlu is awarded by the Gold Medal for the “Adjustable Bone Plate Patent” from the World Intellectual Property Organization in the Istanbul International Invention Fair (ISIF) in 2016. This year, addition to that, Prof. Lazoğlu had the Best Academic Patent Award for the “Adjustable Bone Plate Patent” from the International Federation of Inventor Association (IFIA) in the Istanbul International Invention Fair. In 2014, he had TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) International Research Fellowship and with the Implantable Miniature Heart Pump Project, he received the Second Best Academic Research Project Award from the Machinery and Accessories Exporters Union, 2012. Prof. Lazoğlu is the Co-founder and Administrative Board Member of the Association of Artificial Organs and Support Systems (TUYOD), a member of the European Society for Artificial Organs and an Associate Member of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
