Gürhan Kök is a Professor of Operations Management at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a visiting Professor at Koç University. He serves as the Academic Director of Koç University-Migros Retail Research Center (KÜMPEM). He received his Ph.D. in 2003 at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University, Turkey.
Professor Kök’s research interests include supply chain management, retail operations, inventory management, and assortment planning. He has collaborated with companies from various industries in his research, such as Nine West, Best Buy, Ahold, and B\E AeroSpace helping them in both offering the right set of products to the customers and ensuring the availability of their products through better supply chain inventory planning. He has consulted with various retailers and FMCG companies in Turkey. His research has also been sponsored with grants from research institutes such as ECR-Europe. He was awarded a Marie Curie International Fellowship grant by the European Commision in 2011. His papers appeared in Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, and Operations Research. His papers received awards in the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science’s Student Paper Competition in 2003 and Junior Faculty Paper Competiton in 2005. He serves on the editorial boards of Manufacturing and Service Operations Management and Production and Operations Management. Professor Kök teaches Operations Management and Supply Chain Management courses in the Daytime and Executive MBA programs.
